Set reminders for everything
Any time something pops into my head that I need to do later, I ask Google to remind me at that time. I started doing this on the first flip phone I got. Back then it was only the important things. But now I may have several reminders and alarms a day.
Long ago I gave up on the idea that I would remember all these things I wanted to do. We all get distracted and forget.
This works for ideas also. If I wake up in the night with an idea I just ask Google to remind me in the morning. Then I can roll over and go back to sleep without laying there worrying if I’m going to forget this brilliant Idea.
Make important decisions once with daily alarms
Set daily alarms for habits you want to install. Alarms arena just for getting up in the morning. Say, for example, you are going to turn the TV off at 10 every night. Make the decision once and set an alarm. In this case, set it 20 min earlier so you don’t start watching another show. This will prevent being “surprised” that it’s already time when just a few minutes are left.
Timers allow you to multitask a little.
When cooking I never stand over the stove or grill. I always walk off and do something else. These short timers have mostly migrated to my watch where I can glance at how much time is left. A lot of them still are handled with GA though. If I need to remember to put something in the refrigerator after it cools in half an hour, that is less critical than something burning in seconds.
Start morning and evening routines
I have a morning routine that tells me the weather and what I have on my list for the day. It also sets lights, temperature, and other automations for the day.
I have set up a similar routine for the night that plays nature sounds that will drown out neighbors’ dogs and cars.
These are just a few things I do every day using technology to my advantage. Simple things most of us have access to that will drastically increase our productivity if we make them habits.
